Using the Climbing Wall

NUI Galway has one of Ireland’s largest universities climbing walls, Composed of 25x 10M climbing sections, a dedicated boulding section and a variety of overhangs.


The climbing wall is currently operated by the Kingfisher sports centre.

The club is responsible for student, staff and alumni, public looking to use the wall can contact the kingfisher separately. Please do not contact the club in relation to this. 

The wall can be used by any member of the club who has completed their training sessions. Details on training session can be found here.

The wall is currently opened on club nights which are Tuesday and Thursday 6:30 until 21:30. Term time only. Outside of these times, club member can pay to use the wall at their own expense.

There is an admission charge for this and it will be €5 per session. Sessions last two hours. You must have a minimum of two people per session for health and safety reasons.

To book a session, you must be on the approved list of climbers. To have your name placed on this list, you must have passed your climbing assessment.  Once you have passed this, please email to have your name added to the list.
